It looks like the 2015 eclipse story all over again. The best night for shooting star viewing (Wednesday to Thurs) has clouds and rain forecast but they might have it wrong. It wouldn’t be the first time! Keep checking here.
There’s information all over the press this year. If you’re lucky enough to be a little farther west or north, you might have more luck. This is the WikiHow for a guide. It’s a shame the park won’t be open at the right times.
Here are some pictures from a couple of years ago.
If it rains, we’ll just have to be thankful that the ground will be watered for us.
We are opening the Wildlife Area every Saturday morning in August. We’ll be gardening from 10am.
We are all familiar with the sight of Crissie Chambers in the Dog Walking Area. She has boundless energy to instruct and inform dog owners in the neighbourhood but did you know she has another life as Lady C, Roots ‘n’ Reggae Vinyl DJ?
When Kilburn to Kensal Radio hands over to Portobello Radio on a Friday lunchtime, you might just catch her one time. She’s actually joining Greg Weir today!
Another face you may have seen around the community is that of Simon Walton. He has certainly been our poster-boy on several occasions.
He is also very active with the Friends of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Last month, he joined Chairman Sue Price and Kensington Gardens Manager Andy Williams who invited new Royal Parks Chief Executive Andrew Scattergood for a swim in the Serpentine.
Here are some photos from the Wildlife Area.

The Friends of Queen’s Park Gardens aim to enhance all the green spaces in the area and we were especially pleased to be involved in Queen’s Park In Bloom.
The winners have been announced in the latest issue of Queen’s Park Voice.
Your copy of Queen’s Park Voice should be coming through your letter box soon but you can also collect a copy from The Beethoven Centre and Queen’s Park Library.
We are always thrilled to see what the lovely children of Cheeky Rascals Child Minding group have been up to in the Wildlife Area. They have such fun and use all of the park to it’s best advantage. Wendy Hutt wrote this piece for the Queen’s Park Voice about their sponsored walk and picnic.

We’re opening the Wildlife Area for everyone to enjoy on Saturday. You can meet some of the regular gardeners, pick up information and have a look at what we’re doing. We may even have something fun for the kids to do.
The Cheeky Rascals Childminders Group have also made some fun contributions to area but out latest project has been the Grand Marigold Bug Hotel. This project has been close to the heart of the main driving force of the Friends group, Ray. He sourced most of the materials and even found a lovely container which we have made into a roof terrace for the hotel.
Last weekend, we were finally able to plant it in preparation for everyone to see it during the Festival.
Due to the kindness of a donation from the head gardener at the Royal College of Physician Garden of Medicinal Plants we were able to fill it with wonderful indigenous flowers that will attract bees, bugs and butterflies.
Ray has also spread some more bark in the hotel area to make it easier to walk around.

With thanks to Friend, gardener and Queen’s Park Community Councillor Katie Cowan, the latest issue of Queen’s Park Voice covers our tea party in the Wildlife Area and the opening of the Grand Marigold Bug Hotel.

As part of the Queen’s Park Gardens Festival on 1st August 2015, and supported by the Queen’s Park Community Council, a dog show is being organised by the indefatigable Crissie of Canine Culture. There will be rosettes and prizes.
If you want to be in with a chance, your dog must be on a lead and you MUST register for one of the categories:
Registration is between 11:30 am and 12:00 pm with the show beginning at 12:00 pm.
After 1:30pm all local owners will have the chance to get their dog micro-chipped for FREE in the same area. This will soon be a legal requirement so don’t miss the opportunity.
