Corrib Rest

Here’s your chance to look inside the Corrib Rest on Salusbury Road and help to decide how best to run it as a community pub with activities such as bicycle repair, co-working, pop-up restaurants.  Transition Kensal to Kilburn  will meet inside the pub at 7pm on Tuesday 18th October and they want to hear from you about what you would like to happen and how you can help.

Do you have a group that could use some space?  Do you have skills that would be useful – marketing, graphic design, technical knowledge, pub experience etc? Can you volunteer some time in the set up or regular running?  Come along and let them know.

RSVP to ttkkhub@nullgmail.com giving an idea of your interests.

Citizens Science – Air Pollution Project

88391125-1862-4bd7-b932-012d79e34173Poor air quality has a direct impact upon our health and life expectancy, and has been linked to an increased number of premature deaths each year. Queen’s Park Community Council are considering a proposal, put forward by our most environmentally aware gardener Ray, for attaching low-tech Diffusion Tubes onto lighting columns (Street Lamps) around the Queen’s Park Council Wards from Harrow Road to Kilburn Lane. Diffusion tubes are designed for passive monitoring of gaseous airborne Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2). Similar projects have been conducted in Brent and Kensal Triangle.

If you are interested in joining us to attach diffusion tubes or would like more information about how poor air quality affects our health please email info@nullqueensparkcommunitycouncil.gov.uk

We are WINNERS!

We are so very proud to announce that the London in Bloom incentive has awarded us with a Silver Gilt in The London in Bloom Small Conservation Area of the Year – up to 5 acres category.

The Annual Awards is where London in Bloom celebrates the efforts of London’s boroughs, communities, businesses and individuals who do so much to make London a special place to live, work and visit.

We hope our certificate will soon be on display at the Beethoven Centre and we would like to thank everyone who has made a  contribution to our efforts in the Wildlife Area, from the QPCC to Quinn’s contractors, the various people who have supplied wood chip and tree rounds, seeds and tools, but most of all we would like to thank the local residents who turn out in all weathers to maintain the area as a place for everyone to enjoy.

We will be set up in the Wildlife Area to answer your questions. We will have a fun quiz for the young woodland explorers, with chocolate bugs for those who get it right, so do come and see us.

The development plan for the wildlife area will be available for consultation from the beginning of August. We will have details of this at our stand and would welcome your opinion on the plans.
