The Queen’s 90th Birthday

Are you over 50?  Celebrate the Queen’s 90th Birthday with Open Age at the Beethoven Centre on 1st June.

Claire and Estee have been working hard to make it lovely afternoon with a quiz, raffle, photo booth and a fancy dress competition!  Afternoon tea will be served and a lovely, professional singer will perform songs from the year of the Queen’s birth.

We’ve got another winner!

You may remember that the Mozart Estate won a cash reward in recognition of their improved recycling habits.  Over the other side of Queen’s Park,  Avenue Gardens and Queen’s Park Court have reached their first target now, as well,

Westminster will be talking to people on these estates on Friday afternoon, to find out how they would like to spend their reward.

You can cast your vote in person at the library on Fourth Avenue and also online here.

Don’t forget you can keep on winning as many times as you like. The scheme is running until September 2017!  Just keep on recycling.

The Meadow Is Flourishing

Despite the damp weather, we had a wonderful turnout from Friends old and new.

We reinstalled a couple of the new willow whips which had “come out”, watered them all, weeded around the willow dome, then spent the rest of the time removing bindweed from triangular rose bed.

The meadow is looking great with lots of campion,  some sorrel and even a cornflower.  We’re waiting for some of the news seeds to come through but this combination of rain and sun is perfect for propagating.

Thank you to everyone who came along.

If you want to join out next session, make sure you’re on our mailing list, we’ll send a reminder. Please check our tweets and Facebook as well!

Everyone is welcome – for as little or as long as you would like.    You’ll need to wear suitable clothing and boots or shoes for the outdoors.

We will provide all the tools, some guidance, and a sweet snack for break-time.   You will also earn time credits for every hour worked.  You can spend these all over London, including some local activities. More information here
